Amazon has sharply increased the US prices of many of its Echo, Fire TV, Kindle and eero devices, with some rises reaching 60 per cent, as the company passes on higher memory and storage costs linked to the wider AI-driven squeeze on semiconductor supply.

Amazon is preparing to expand Prime Air drone delivery to nearly 500 US cities and towns by the end of 2026, while its only UK operation remains tightly restricted to around 100 deliveries a day, highlighting how quickly autonomous delivery can scale when technology, regulation and public acceptance move at different speeds.

Amazon has begun making drone deliveries in the UK for the first time, marking a major step towards autonomous AI-driven logistics becoming part of normal daily commerce.

From March 28, a change to a long-standing Amazon Echo privacy feature will mean that every Alexa request will be transmitted to Amazon’s cloud by default, rather than being processed locally on the device.
